Draymond Green’s Blunt Reaction To Warriors Benching Him

The Golden State Warriors are shaking up their lineup in an unexpected move.

Head coach Steve Kerr has decided to bring veteran forward Draymond Green off the bench, opting to start young talent Jonathan Kuminga instead.

This strategic shift comes as the Warriors seek to rejuvenate their performance and capitalize on Kuminga’s recent strong play.

Green, a cornerstone of the Warriors’ championship teams, has embraced the change with a team-first attitude. He expressed support for Kuminga’s development and acknowledged the need to explore new strategies to improve the team’s results.

“Of course, I’m OK with it,” Green said of getting benched. “I have been one of JK’s biggest fans since he’s been here. And so if he has an opportunity to start, you can’t be hypocritical, and they’re like we want him to start, but it’ll be (up to) you, you can’t be like, ah, it’s not for me, that don’t work. I want to see him do well.

“So if his opportunity goes through me, then it is what it is. He earned the opportunity. He played extremely well (on Thursday). You want to give that another look or two or three or four or however long. If it works, then you continue with it.”

That said, Green also had an interesting take on getting benched.

“I don’t necessarily look at it as like this demotion,” he admitted. “I’m a starter in the NBA. I know that. But if it’s something to try to help this team win, I’m always going to be for it. I hate losing.

The move reflects the Warriors’ commitment to nurturing emerging talent while maintaining flexibility in their rotations. As the season progresses, it remains to be seen how this adjustment will impact the team’s dynamics and overall performance.
