Because Thompson and the Warriors have had such a rough time finding a middle ground on a new deal, he recently revealed one big reason why he might opt to leave.
This week ESPN NBA insider Brian Windhorst shed some light on Thompson’s future with Golden State.
“I think they like the way this team finished the season — 27-12 down the stretch, top-10 offense, top-10 defense,” Windhorst said.

“They’re a quality team. … I think they bring Klay Thompson back. I think they like the way this team played at the end of the season.”
Thompson averaged 17.9 points per game this season, but seemed to get a lot better towards the end of the year. In May alone he average 23.1 points per game.
Where will Thompson be playing next season? Time will tell.
